Bubba came to me from a lady in Laguna Beach. I saw his face and know he was a star. Bubba is a 50 lb. bull dog that loves life. I met Wickum while working on a fundrasier for Canine Companions for Independence back in October. He is a 11 month old black Labrador puppy who is full of lots of love and laughs. I was taking with his bubbly personality and his great sense of humor. Wickum is not only a pretty face, he is on a mission. He is in training to become a service dog for CCI but just as important his has the added responsibility of being considered for a future "stud". WOW! We at Puppy Paws salute you Wickum for being the handsome "stud" you are. I know those of us who are blessed enough to be a part of your life will never forget that great smile and your ability to make us laugh. Good luck Wickum, I'll miss you. December 2007 Retrospective

I met Faith at the SAVE OUR STRAYS pancake breakfast, she was so full of life. She was such a bright light I knew I had to meet her. As I got closer I noticed Faith only had three legs. Her back leg had been amputated, but that didn't stop her it only added to her sweet gentle way. Faith had been adopted from the GERMAN SHEPARD RESCUE by a woman in Orange County. After hearing Faiths story she knew she had to have her. It wasn't a dog with a handicap it was a friend who enjoyed adventure. Faith is destined to do great things, (she already has) she understands life is what you make it (something we forget). We at Puppy Paws salute you for reminding us what is important in life. It's not what life gives you but what you give live! Here's to you Faith may your light continue to shine bright! Puppy of September 2007Jake comes to us from Phoenix Arizona. I met him while in Del Mar at the Wags for Wishes fundraiser for the MAKE A WISH FOUNDATION. Jake is a beautiful 5 year old Golden Retriever who works as a Therapy Dog for THERAPY DOGS INCORPORATED. Griffin is a beautiful two year old Great Dane. I met him while at a fund raiser at the harbor in Dana Point. I was quite taken with his presents. The way he towered over all the other dogs he was magnificent, not afraid to stand out in the crowd. Despite his size and some what intimidating looks he was quite the gentleman (gentle and well behaved). We at Puppy Paws salute you Griffin for reminding us not to be afraid to stand out in the crowd! Puppy of July 2007
ALLEYLOUYA or "ALLEY" is a beautiful one year old Weimaraner who comes to us from a man who DIDN'T want a dog. Can you believe it! SULLY came to my attention after speaking with Maria from the GERMAN SHEPARD RESCUE. He is a beautiful 3 or 4 month old male with a great pair of eyes. Sully had had a rough few months when Maria rescued him from a shelter. She found out that Sully's back leg had been broken in two places. After a total leg amputation, Sully is returning to normal and will be ready for adoption by the end of June. If your looking for love you found it with "Sully". www.gsroc.org We at Puppy Paws salute you Sully for your courage, strength and incredible spirit! Puppy of May 2007
JACK is a 6 month old boxer who came to my attention while at a fundraiser in Dana Point for PET PROJECT FOUNDATION. We locked eyes and I knew I had to have him if only for a moment, that face I knew it was love. It was a face the world had to see. I found out he was there participating in the 14th annual Wag-a-Thon walk which raises funds for the San Clemente-Dana Point no kill animal shelter. Zena comes to us from the CANINE COMPANIONS FOR INDEPENDENCE out of the Oceanside area. This is a great organization that trains dogs to assist people with disabilities. The dogs are trained in one of four different areas some are service dogs, some skilled companion dogs, others are facility dogs, or hearing dogs. Zena is still in training with the hopes that she will graduate to become one of the many great service dogs that CCI has given us. We at Puppy Paws salute all the great work you do. Good luck Zena I know you'll do great! Puppy Paws will be partnering with CCI at their annual Woofstock event this April, hope to see you there. Puppy of March 2007
Sophie comes to us as a rescue dog from a young lady in the Los Angeles area. After seeing her at a local shelter she went home and told her dad she had found the perfect dog. She had named her "Sophie". Later that week they went to go visit "Sophie" and found out that she was on death row. After several obstacles and a lot of paperwork Sophie was hers. It was a happy day. Sophie now enjoys a healthy happy home with her new family. We at Puppy Paws salute you for a job well done! Puppy of February 2007
Kaneshee comes to us as a rescue dog. She was on her way to the humane society, when a family in Costa Mesa Ca. took her in to find her a good home. After hearing Kaneshee's story of being caged for 15-18 hours a day for her first year of life, they decided to keep her themselves. She now enjoys unconditional love from her new family and is doing great! We at Puppy Paws salute you and your new family! Job well done. Puppy of January 2007
We decided to adopt Butchie three years ago after we found him at an animal rescue foundation called Animal's Rule. Butch had been found wandering the streets of San Pedro. We think Butch is about 3-1/2 years old. Without a doubt this boy has brought us so much joy and unending happiness, he is such a wonderful pal to our 16 year old dog Samantha, he is sweet and gentle with our three grand children, and loves to give kisses to everyone who comes in our door at work, he is the self proclaimed official greeter. Butch is a great friend and will forever and always be a member of our family. Thanks for featuring Butchie as your January dog! He is our January through December little angel boy! See you soon! We at Puppy Paws salute you "Job well done Butchie." Puppy of December 2006
Berlin is from the Hollywood Hills and is featured this month because of the wonderful work she does with the community. She along with her owner visit many different hospitals and preschools bringing smiles to everyone around them. Berlin's gentle nature and laid back attitude makes her a perfect candidate for a therapy dog. We at Puppy Paws salute you, for a job well done. Puppy of November 2006
Kalahan came to us from a couple in Costa Mesa who got him from a wonderful lady (Maria Dale) from the GERMAN SHEPHERD RESCUE. He was placed in a home when he was 8 weeks but they were unable to care for him, so he found himself back at the rescue. As fate had it this couple had just lost their dog and Maria was there to save the day. Kalahan has brought much love and joy to their lives. |
